Cambridge Associates opens Italian office and expands European leadership

The firm has served Italian investors for over 25 years, providing strategic advice and tailored investment solutions

Global investment firm Cambridge Associates has announced the opening of a new Milan office, alongside the appointment of two senior leaders in Europe, as the firm continues its focus on delivering tailored services to institutional and family office investors across the region.

Rachel Heynold has joined the business as head of EMEA and APAC within the client solutions team and will serve on the firm’s EMEA operating committee. Heynold brings more than three decades of experience across client strategy, investment banking and investment management.

Heynold is also a key member of the Global Client Solutions leadership team, bearing responsibility for driving growth and market expansion, alongside overseeing client engagement efforts across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.

Riccardo Pianeti joins Cambridge Associates as head of the Milan office and as a managing director of the firm. Pianeti brings more than 14 years of experience as an investment advisor and portfolio specialist, serving clients globally. He will lead the firm’s presence in Italy, providing investment advisory services in asset allocation, portfolio construction and investment governance.

The firm said the Milan office is part of its expansion into the broader Southern European region.

These developments follow the opening of the firm’s Munich office, the acquisition of a Zurich-based alternative investment specialist and the opening of its Dubai office in 2025.

Alex Koriath, EMEA regional head at Cambridge Associates, said: “Having a presence on the ground in Milan is a natural next step in Cambridge Associates’ longstanding work with Italian clients.

The office will build on our established relationships by providing an additional local point of connection and support. Italy continues to be an important market for the firm, and our local presence will help us deepen relationships with institutions across Italy and Southern Europe even more. Riccardo and Rachel bring extensive experience that will strengthen our client service and regional growth.”
