Marktlink UK advises Twickenham Plating Group on sale to Roxbi Capital

Twickenham Plating Group owners David and Jonathan Hill sought a buyer to preserve the firm’s 80-year history and support growth

Twickenham Plating Group Ltd (TPG), a specialist technical plating business, has been acquired by investment firm Roxbi Capital following a sale process advised by Marktlink London.

Founded in 1947, TPG provides specialist plating services for mission-critical components used across the electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, military and automotive sectors, among others. The company is headquartered in Twickenham, Middlesex, with operations in Poole, Dorset.

The business has been owned by David Hill and Jonathan Hill, who were seeking a buyer that could preserve TPG’s almost 80-year history while supporting its continued growth.

Roxbi Capital was selected as the buyer, with Marktlink saying its owner-operating model and founder’s experience in the engineering and manufacturing sectors were factors in the decision. Marktlink acted as lead adviser to TPG, identifying potential buyers through its international network and supporting the owners in assessing offers, valuation and deal structure.

Marktlink said the process attracted proposals from nine countries, reflecting international interest in UK technical services firms.

The Marktlink team was led by Victoria Ansell, alongside George Tzimas and Aakil Khambati. RWK Goodman and Gravita advised on legal and tax matters respectively, while Roxbi Capital was supported by Irwin Mitchell, Buzzacott and Leopard Advisory.

Ansell, managing partner of Marktlink London, said: “TPG is a quality, profitable, high-tech British business and we’re proud to have helped David and Jonathan find a committed successor for the long term. Our specialist expertise in the UK industrials and technical services space and across SMEs more broadly, enabled us to identify multiple potential buyers, giving the sellers valuable optionality for their process.

“We were able to attract proposals from nine different countries, demonstrating not only the strong international reach of the Marktlink network, but also the wide appeal of well-run, entrepreneurial UK businesses, particularly in technical services.”

Jonathan Hill, managing director of Twickenham Plating Group, said: “Selling a business is not an easy decision and the process is challenging but the advice and support of the Marktlink team were invaluable, as well as their ability and dedication to making it happen – their tenacity and commitment were key to getting the deal over the line. We were delighted to receive multiple offers, enabling us to make the right decision for the whole TPG team and to find a supportive owner to take the 80-year legacy of our business forward for the next generation.”
