Private equity investor Aurelius has completed its acquisition of Marshall Aerospace from Marshall Group, taking ownership of the British aerospace and defence specialist.
Marshall Aerospace provides military maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing services to customers including the Royal Norwegian Air Force and the US Marine Corps. It also works with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Thales.
The company’s recent contracts include a multi-year agreement to support the entry into service and sustainment of 12 C-130J aircraft acquired by the Turkish Ministry of National Defence. It has also secured a 14-year contract with Thales to manufacture sonar modules for the UK’s Royal Navy.
Aurelius said the acquisition would combine Marshall Aerospace’s engineering capabilities and workforce with its operational expertise and investment approach, supporting the business’s future development.
Bob Baxter, chief executive of Marshall Aerospace, said: "This change of ownership is an important new chapter for Marshall Aerospace as an independent mid-tier British aerospace and defence company.
“In Aurelius, we have found an owner that recognises the strength of our capabilities and the importance of the work we are delivering for our customers. Just as importantly, they have the expertise and resources to back our next phase of growth and capitalise on emerging opportunities as the defence industry continues to transform.”
