Akin has appointed Filippo Durazzo as a corporate partner in its London office, the fourth private equity partner to join the firm’s UK base in the past 12 months.
Durazzo advises private equity sponsors, portfolio companies and other corporates on cross-border transactions involving the US, UK, EU and Italy. His work covers mergers and acquisitions, capital solutions, carve-outs, co-investments, divestitures, recapitalisations, refinancings and joint ventures.
He will work alongside Akin’s US head of private equity Gerald Brant, partners Jeffrey Kochian and Jono Hamill and their respective teams. The appointment follows a series of hires to Akin’s global private equity platform over the past 12 months.
These include Brant and Kochian, along with Brittany Harrison and Megan Spelman in New York; Hamill, Dan Oates and Angela Becker in London; Dilen Kumar in Dallas; and Kimberley Rowe in Los Angeles. Akin’s private equity practice advises alternative asset managers, financial sponsors and public and private companies on M&A and corporate transactions. The practice also works with the firm’s capital solutions, restructuring, tax and fund formation teams on private capital transactions.
Abid Qureshi, Akin co-chair, said: “As the fourth private equity partner to join our London office in the past year, Filippo further strengthens our ability to advise clients on complex transactions and strategic investments across key markets.”
Brant, US head of private equity, added: “Filippo’s extensive experience enhances our ability to guide clients through complex international transactions and further strengthens our private equity capabilities.”
Durazzo said: "The opportunity to join Akin’s integrated global platform was particularly compelling, given its market-leading private equity and capital solutions offering. I am thrilled to reunite with former colleagues and look forward to collaborating with lawyers across the firm."
