BGF invests in Blitz Hire to drive growth and acquisition strategy

Private equity firm invests in film and television equipment provider to target adjacent markets

BGF has completed an investment in Blitz Hire, a UK provider of specialist rigging and structural equipment for the film, television and live event industries.

The deal was led by Chris Boyes, James Baker and Christian Pollard of BGF’s Yorkshire and North East team. As part of the transaction, Ross Smith joins the business as non-executive chairman via the BGF Talent Network.

The growth capital will be used to support Blitz Hire’s expansion into adjacent markets and fund strategic bolt-on acquisitions to broaden its service offering. Headquartered in North London, the company operates a 90,000sq ft facility and supplies major productions including Barbie, Bridgerton and Slow Horses.

Chris Boyes, investment partner at BGF, said: “Blitz has demonstrated incredibly strong growth, working with some of the best-known brands across the entertainment industry. Its market-leading equipment offering, strong customer relationships and reputation for service provide an excellent platform for further expansion.”

Sam Skipper, chief executive of Blitz Hire, said: “As we look to the future, it was important to find an investment partner who shares our ambition and takes a long-term view. We believe we’ve found that in BGF, and together with our existing partners, we’re excited about the next chapter.”

Lee Brooks, chief executive of Production Park, said: “BGF has a strong track record of helping regional businesses grow, alongside relevant experience across the creative industries and events sector. That combination made them a natural choice when Sam and I were considering an investment partner.”
