Maven Capital Partners has announced the appointment of investment director Greg Allsopp to lead regional deal origination and execution in Yorkshire, as it officially opened a new office at Platform in central Leeds.
The move follows a period of deal activity in Yorkshire, where the firm has backed several local management teams. In the last 12 months, Maven invested £2.7m in Leeds cyber security specialist Xentra and £1.6m in digital assurance software provider eviFile.
The private equity firm also holds a stake in Hull-based Pagabo Group, where it completed a partial exit in 2024.
Allsopp previously spent more than 10 years at Venturian Funding and Investment Group leading early-stage equity investments and SME lending. He began his career advising on private equity transactions at law firm DLA Piper.
Allsopp said: “I am delighted to be joining Maven and leading its investment activities from our new Leeds office. Yorkshire has a thriving business community, with a strong pipeline of innovative companies seeking investment to accelerate their ambitions. Maven establishing a permanent presence in Leeds is a natural next step as we continue to expand our network and support more high growth businesses.
“I look forward to working with entrepreneurs, management teams and advisers across the county to help businesses realise their long term potential.”
Ryan Bevington, partner at Maven, added: “Yorkshire continues to be one of the most attractive investment markets in the UK, with a number of innovative and fast-growing businesses operating across a diverse range of sectors. The establishment of a Leeds office reflects the momentum we are seeing in the region and our ambition to further increase our support for Yorkshire’s entrepreneurial community.
“Greg’s appointment is an important part of that strategy. His extensive investment experience, combined with his local market knowledge and network, will be invaluable as we continue to grow our presence and back more great businesses across the region.”
