Evercore appoints Nigel Dawn and Naveen Nataraj as co-presidents

Nigel Dawn and Naveen Nataraj will report to chief executive John Weinberg, who retains responsibility for strategy

Evercore has appointed Nigel Dawn and Naveen Nataraj as co-presidents of the firm, effective 1 January 2027, as the investment bank introduces a new leadership structure to support its growth and international expansion.

Dawn and Nataraj will report to chairman and chief executive John Weinberg, who will retain responsibility for the firm’s overall strategy and management. Weinberg has agreed to serve in the role for at least the next three years.

Dawn and Nataraj will work alongside Weinberg, founder and senior chairman Roger Altman and the global senior leadership team to execute the firm’s growth strategy and strengthen its international presence.

As part of the changes, Dawn will become the chairman of Evercore’s Private Capital Advisory (PCA) practice, which he has developed into a global operation spanning the US, Europe and Singapore. He will remain closely involved with the business and its clients.

Nataraj, who has advised major clients on transactions across a range of industries during his time at Evercore, will continue to advise clients and remain actively involved in advisory.

The firm is also restructuring its US investment banking leadership, with Daniel Mendelow becoming sole head of US investment banking, taking responsibility for Evercore’s largest division, while Jason Sobol will become chairman of US investment banking. Sobol will work closely with Eduardo Mestre who will remain chairman of global investment banking.

Weinberg said: “As Evercore has grown and evolved, we see increased opportunities to bring value for our clients. This leadership structure will help us drive our strategy more effectively while reinforcing our commitment to clients, our values and our culture. Nigel and Naveen are accomplished leaders who will make important contributions in these roles. I am excited to continue working with them and with our global senior leadership.

Altman said: “Evercore is a different firm today, even compared with three years ago. It is much larger, broader and more global and is competitively stronger.

“The firm will benefit from additional management resources to support John, and today’s announcement reflects that need. I could not have greater confidence in Nigel and Naveen and look forward to working with them in their new roles. Moreover, John’s leadership, judgment and deep commitment to our people and clients have been and will continue to be central to what we are building.”
