LDC backs Moorhouse following sale by Expleo to accelerate growth

Private equity firm backs management buyout of London consultancy as it transitions to independent ownership

LDC has backed the management buyout of Moorhouse, a London-based consultancy, following its sale by global engineering and technology services provider Expleo.

Founded in 2004, Moorhouse employs 220 people and specialises in delivering transformation projects across strategy, people and technology. The consultancy works across the public and private sectors, with clients in life sciences, energy, utilities, infrastructure, healthcare and government.

LDC, part of Lloyds Banking Group, is backing Moorhouse’s existing management team, led by partners Anna Rissen, Hinesh Patel and Leo Koshutova, alongside executive chair Karen Thomas-Bland.

The investment will support Moorhouse’s transition into an independent consultancy and its plans to expand its existing intellectual property (IP) and products, alongside pursuing targeted acquisitions.

Josh Wachman, Tom Gilchrist and Alex White, investment managers at LDC, led the deal, supported by Nicol Fraser, managing partner and head of London.

LDC said it had invested £671m across 16 businesses in the business services sector over the past decade. Its portfolio includes professional services and technology firm Daintta, digital lifecycle and cybersecurity consultancy UBDS, and property and construction consultancy Frankham.

Anna Rissen, partner at Moorhouse, said: “We’re excited to partner with LDC as we begin our next chapter as an independent consultancy and pursue our ambition to build one of the UK’s most distinctive transformation consultancies.

“The LDC team’s experience in supporting advisory businesses like ours will help us to build on our strong foundations, become a leader in the sectors where we can make the greatest difference, and provide solutions to the biggest industry challenges through our exceptional people and capabilities in AI, data and products.”

Wachman said: “Moorhouse stood out to us for the quality of its people, its deep sector expertise and its capabilities in AI, and for having all the ingredients to become a larger and even more successful consultancy. Its move to independence creates an opportunity to accelerate growth and pursue complementary acquisitions, and we’re excited to work with Anna, Hinesh, Leo and the wider team as they deliver their ambitious plans.”

Fraser said: “Moorhouse is a fantastic addition to our portfolio and continues a strong year for LDC’s London team. We’ve partnered with a number of ambitious management teams across the capital, and London remains one of the UK’s most dynamic markets for growth and investment. We’re looking forward to working with the Moorhouse team as they build on their impressive reputation and capitalise on growing demand for partners that can bring together strategy, people and technology.”
